How to Install Infotrove on Windows Platforms ----------------------------------------------- Infotrove is delievered in a self contained installation exe file. This installation exe file contains an msi file and a version of windows installer for machines that don't have windows installer already installed. Preparation ----------- Infotrove runs as a service under the LOCALSYSTEM user and hence it must use the local hard drive of the server. The local hard drive can be a IDE or SCSI drive but it must be phyiscally located on the machine. The drive can't be networked or mapped. The infotrove service comes with it's own database and builtin http server. The database runs on the local filesystem and the http server runs on the default port 80. NOTE: If you have IIS running on port 80 of the server then you can change the infotrove port to something else, say 4000. The disk space required for infotrove is approximately 1:1 when compared to raw file space. For example, if you have a folder of files that uses 1GB then the infotrove space required for these files would be 1GB. This also allows for typical version storage as well. To Install. ----------- 1) Login as as administrator. 2) Execute the .exe file. A setup dialog window will appear. 3) Accept the license agreement. 4) Enter the server information; - The server address. (default server name) NOTE: You should enter a full DNS path if infotrove is to be accessed on the external internet. - The http port. (default 80) 5) Enter the destination folder; - Binary Folder (default c:\Program Files\Infotrove) - User Files Folder (default c:\Program Files\Infotrove User Files) 6) You should be looking at the start page now. The start page will show you how to restart the server and restore the initial default user. Infotrove Licenses ------------------- Infotrove is shipped with a default evaluation license. This license is valid for 30 days and 5 users. The evaluation must be installed first so the HOSTID can be determined. The HOSTID is used to tie your license to your server. Please submit your HOSTID when asking for a quote. To install the license ---------------------- When you purchase a license it will be emailed to you in the form of a key.txt file. This key.txt file should be saved to your local drive. The key.txt license file can then be installed via the windows shortcut Start->Programs->InfoTrove->License Installer. To upgrade ---------- The Infotrove installation .exe file will check to see if any old versions of Infotrove are installed. It will automatically uninstall the old versions before installing the new version. Your user files and documents will not be affected. NOTE: You cannot downgrade back to a previous version as the installation process parses the user database files and updates them to suit the version of the binary.
