How to change server hardware (on windows and unix platforms) --------------------------------------------------------------- Infotrove licenses allow you to change server hardware. The license is time based i.e. It is only valid for a year. The time limit is not restrictive as you can download new licenses whenever you wish. The time limit allows you to change HOSTID and obtain a new license, the old license will naturally expire when the time limit runs out. To change server hardware perform the following steps; 1) Install Infotrove on the new server. NOTE: It must be the same version. It will run in evaluation mode. Go to the "About" tab and send Atrove the new HOSTID. 2) Wait for new license code from Atrove. 3) Stop infotrove on both the old server and the new server, via the services window on a Windows platform and tr_stop on unix platforms. 4) Move the user files from the old server to the new server. The user files can be found under C:/Program Files/Infotrove User Files on a windows platform and /home/atrove/infotrove/user on a unix platform. Place them in the same location on the new server. 5) Start the Infotrove service on the new server again. This time is should find the old user files. The license will be incorrect and the login screen will inform you of this. Install the new licence you received in step 2. Note about versions ------------------- When changing Infotrove versions the setup stage needs to parse the user database and modify it to suit the new binary version. So you must move the database before installing a new version. Once the database or user files are intact on the new server then you can upgrade the infotrove version. NOTE: You can't go back to an old version. If you feel you might want to do this, please backup the user database before you begin.
